Christmas Cards from Art Prints

It is so expensive to provide a mat and frame up a piece of art that I have the practice of moving pictures in and out of frames for the current show. Sometimes when I am working up a new piece something goes wrong and the image coming out of the printer is unsuccessful. Double printing can be the answer with the paper reintroduced to the printer. Mixed Media solutions can be another answer by taking the image that was not what I had anticipated and allowing it to "keep on movin'" down the road it has suggested to me. But when neither of these solution work, I will free the frame and use the piece to create art cards.

One of my favorite things to do is to weave two images together and then use metallic spark with foil, metallic paint or gold ink to bring light to the problem. Today I took 25 of my handmade cards down to Summerland. Beginning on Nov. 27, during the Festival of Lights, the gallery will begin Season’s Sparkles, a holiday art sale and my cards, three of my inspirational door stops, two small hand painted magnets and two original small works will be for sale.

Currently, I am looking around for a gallery to carry my work full time. Putting the large abstract pieces out in the world where they can be viewed and purchased is also a priority.

Etsy is seeing a lot of my treasures accumulated through the years coming to light. I have a collection of purses, gloves, hats and vintage clothing that I am systematically loading up in my shop.http://www.etsy.com/shop/CHERIEHANSON27

To check out some variety of art cards that I make from old images, go to my Etsy shop. I am also really enjoying painting the inspirational door stops which are inspired by my large abstract pieces. Getting in the mood for Christmas, I submitted a bid for make the Christmas Cards for the city of Kelowna which lead to spending weeks drawing into the image of snow filled trees that I created on my computer. Each and every card is different, handmade, hand glued and signed. Each is archival. As usual, I did what other artists call over produce. But I love making everything unique and taking the time to really get into the flow of making it. Peaceful and happy work shows.
